Sunday May 1st, 2011 [4:43pm Tehran Time] - IranPressNews: Fearing protests by workers on International Workers' Day [May Day], security forces were deployed by the government in various parts of Tehran.
In northern Tehran at Vanak and Vali Asr square a number of police cars and motorcycle agents were present, monitoring the traffic and pedestrian movement. Anti riot police were also present in central Tehran from Ferdowsi to Enghelab and Azadi square. The route between Azadi and Enghelab squares and the squares themselves looked like military garrisons, the bus routes filled with motorcycle agents and police cars. Special security forces were also deployed on the Northwestern side of Enghelab square.
There were also reports of security forces and anti riot police being deployed around the Parliament building. Security measures were particularly tight with a heavy presence of Special Security Forces around the northern entrance to the parliament building where parliament members are known to enter the building.
The presence of security forces in front of the Ministry of Labor was reported as far more intense than other parts of Tehran. Fearing the possible congregation of workers, Basiji forces and plain clothes agents were deployed as early as 10:30am in front of this ministry. All reporters and journalists were banned from entering and reporting from the area.

روز کارگر؛ تهران چهره امنيتی به خود گرفت

ايران پرس نيوز: رژیم در هراس از بروز اعتراضات کارگری در روز کارگر، نیروهای سرکوبگر خود را از صبح امروز در بخش هايی از شهر مستقر کرده است.در بخش های شمالی تهران در میادین ونک و میدان ولیعصر چندین خودروی نیروی انتظامی به همراه موتورسواران پلیس حضور دارند و رفت و آمد مردم را زیر نظر گرفته اند. در مرکز شهر از میدان فردوسی تا میدان انقلاب و میدان آزادی نیروهای ضدشورش مستقر هستند. در میدان انقلاب و آزادی و مسیر ما بین آن مبدل به پادگان نظامی شده و مسیر اتوبوس های تند رو پر است از موتور سواران و خودروهای نیروهای امنیتی. در ضلع شمال غربی میدان انقلاب نیز نیروهای یگان ویژه مستقر شده اند.
اطراف مجلس شورای اسلامی نیز نیروهای امنیتی و پلیس ضد شورش حضور دارند و در مقابل درب شمالی مجلس که محل تردد نمایندگان است چندین لایه از نیروهای يگان ويژه مستقر شده بودند.
اما وضعیت در مقابل «وزارت کار» به مراتب امنیتی تر از دیگر نقاط تهران بود. نیروهای بسیج و لباس شخصی ها از حدود ساعت 10:30 صبح از بیم شکل گیری تجمع کارگران در مقابل وزارت کار در خیابان آزادی مستقر شده بودند و به هیچ خبرنگاری اجازه داده نمی شد تا در این محل مستقر یا گزارش تهیه کند
