Thursday May 26th, 2011 - A group of young reformists have published a statement requesting that the political prisoners at Rajai Shahr prison in the city of Karaj end their hunger strike.
The request comes at the heals of a hunger strike by these political prisoners on alternate days that began on Sunday April 10th, 2011 and their decision to resume an unlimited hunger strike beginning on Monday May 23rd, 2011.
It has been reported that Mehdi Mahmoudnia, Isa Saharkhiz, Rasoul Badaghi and Keyvan Samimi are amongst the political prisoners participating in the resumed hunger strike. The aforementioned political prisoners relaunched their hunger strike as a result of increased pressure on the families of political prisoners, being banned from telephone privileges and with the goal to generate solidarity amongst citizens for these hunger strikes.

To our dear incarcerated brothers at Rajai Shahr prison,
We have heard your message from behind bars. Resorting to a hunger strike as a means to convey a message is without a doubt one of the most brutal circumstances for any human being to find themselves in. Now that your message has been heard, we ask that you end your hunger strike in order to avoid further suffering by your pure souls and ensure that your concerned families are not further distressed. Like you, we are fully aware that humanity, morality and religion have long been dead within our society; they have no qualms about harming you both physically and psychologically, if anything they may even find it pleasant. For it is in their nature to prefer that you are half dead rather than powerful and able to persevere and endure.
We ask that you put an end to your hunger strike in the name of Iran and for the sake of your children, wives and families. It is our duty to echo your pained and injured voices until your minimum demands and human rights have been met by the ruling government- but we must also continue to pursue your demands in a manner that does not cause irreparable damage to your precious lives.

چکیده :ما از شما می خواهیم که به اعتصاب غذایتان پایان دهید و بیش از این به وجود پاکتان و خانواده های دلنگرانتان آسیب نرسانید، ما و شما نیک می دانیم مدتهاست انسانیت، اخلاق و دین در بین این جماعت مرده است و از آسیب جسمی و روحی شما عزیزان باکی ندارند و چه بسا خوشایند آنان باشد....
جوانان احزاب اصلاح طلب با صدور پیامی خواستار پایان اعتصاب غذای زندانیان سیاسی زندان رجایی شهر کرج شدند.
به گزارش کلمه، این درخواست در حالی منتشر می شود که زندانیان سیاسی رجایی شهر از ابتدای اردیبهشت ماه اعتصاب غذای متناوب خود را آغاز کرده بودند و از روز دوم خرداد دست به اعتصاب غذای سراسری زدند.
بنابراین گزارش مهدی محمودیان،عیسی سحر خیز، رسول بداقی و کیوان صمیمی از جمله زندانیان شرکت کننده در این اعتصاب هستند.آنها مسایلی چون فشار روزافزون بر خانواده های زندانیان سیاسی و قطع تلفن ها را از دلایل اعتصاب خود عنوان کرده و هدف آن را همبستگی مردم با این اعتصاب ها دانسته اند.

براداران عزیز در بندمان در زندان رجایی شهر
ما پیام شما عزیزان دربندمان را شنیده ایم، روی آوردن به اعتصاب غذا به عنوان راهی برای رساندن یک پیغام بدون تردید نشان از ددمنشانه ترین شرایطی دارد که یک انسان می تواند در آن گرفتار شود. اکنون پیغام شما شنیده است. ما از شما می خواهیم که به اعتصاب غذایتان پایان دهید و بیش از این به وجود پاکتان و خانواده های دلنگرانتان آسیب نرسانید، ما و شما نیک می دانیم مدتهاست انسانیت، اخلاق و دین در بین این جماعت مرده است و از آسیب جسمی و روحی شما عزیزان باکی ندارند و چه بسا خوشایند آنان باشد. که این خوی آنهاست و نیمه جان شدن شما را خوشتر می دارند از توانتان برای ایستادگی و استقامت.
ما از شما می خواهیم که بخاطر ایران، به خاطر فرزندان و همسران و خانواده هایتان به اعتصاب غذایتان پایان دهید . ما وظیفه خود میدانیم تا واداشتن حاکمیت به برآوردن حداقلی از حقوق انسانی شما پژواک صدای دردمند و زخمی تان باشیم و برای رسیدن به مطالبات برحقتان از راهی دیگر که آسیب های جبران ناپذیر بر جان پرارزش شما وارد نکند ادامه دهیم.
