Sunday December 6th, 2010 - I decided to translate this piece because although the world is aware of the human rights violations in Iran and the extreme suppression of freedom of speech, we continue to focus on the Nuclear issue. Meanwhile innocent people are arrested, tortured, raped and hanged under all types of pretexts such as colluding against the regime, being a Mohareb (enemy of God), propaganda against the regime, or no reason what so ever. The latest casualties of the Islamic Republic's unjust Judiciary are the Editor in Chief of Shargh Newspaper, Ahmad Gholami, the Head of International Department Farzaneh Roustayi, the Head of the Political Section Keyvan Mehregan and their main investor Ali Khoda bakhsh who were all arrested on Student Day (16 Azar), December 7th, 2010. Despite the fact that their families have had no news of them for 20 days and 150 well known journalists, writers, translators and literary experts in Iran have written to the head of the Judiciary demanding their release, according to Tehran's prosecutor they were arrested because they "intended" to write/publish against the regime. Yes, they are behind bars without the right to seek legal council or see their families because they "intended" to write against the regime. I kid you not. They did not commit this so called vicious crime, but intended to do so. In what other country in the world is journalism considered a crime? People should not be told not to think, not to live, not to breath.We must speak out against such violations of basic human rights, for if we don't we have given up on humanity.
Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi Tehran's prosecutor stated today that the Shargh journalists were arrested on security charges because they were planning on writing an article against the regime and were working on the financial and logistical aspects related to publishing such an article when arrested; all activities that according to Tehran's prosecutor have nothing to do with the profession of journalism.
According to ILNA, during a farewell and referral ceremony for the court supervisor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi claimed that the aforementioned journalists intended to write an article against the regime and were working on the financial and logistical aspects related to publishing such an article when arrested. Jafari Dolatabadi stated: "With regards to the six accused, some were arrested by one of our investigating units and the others were arrested by another unit. As far as I know currently five of the six originally detained are still in custody. Their case file is currently under review."
Dolatabadi also confirmed that the case against Nazanin Khosravi charged with acting against the national security of the country and propaganda against the regime will soon go to trial.
Dolatabadi also made the following statement regarding the accusations against the members of the Vahed Syndicate: "These individuals were arrested a few years ago on security charges. Some have been indicted, while the case file of others is still in the investigation phase."

دادستان تهران: روزنامه‌نگاران بازداشتی شرق می‌خواستند علیه نظام اطلاعیه بنویسند

چکیده : روزنامه‌نگاران بازداشت شده روزنامه شرق، مرتکب جرم امنیتی شده‌اند به این معنا که به دنبال اقداماتی بوده‌اند که با کار روزنامه‌نگاری آنها ارتباطی نداردو آنها به دنبال نوشتن اطلاعیه علیه نظام و تدارکات مالی و نظایر آن بوده‌اند.
دادستان تهران درباره اتهام روزنامه‌نگاران بازداشت شده روزنامه شرق، مدعی شد: این افراد مرتکب جرم امنیتی شده‌اند به این معنا که به دنبال اقداماتی بوده‌اند که با کار روزنامه‌نگاری آنها ارتباطی ندارد.
به گزارش ایلنا، عباس جعفری دولت‌آبادی در حاشیه مراسم تودیع و معارفه سرپرست دادسرای بعثت، با ادعای اینکه این افراد به دنبال نوشتن اطلاعیه علیه نظام و تدارکات مالی و نظایر آن بوده‌اند، اظهار کرد: این پرونده در حال بررسی است. این متهمان شش نفر بوده‌اند که یک سری از آنها توسط یک نهاد تحقیقاتی دستگیر و برخی دیگر توسط یک نهاد دیگر دستگیر شده‌اند و تا جایی که اطلاع دارم هم‌اکنون پنج نفر از آنها در بازداشت هستند.
همچنین جعفری دولت‌آبادی اتهام نازنین خسروانی را اقدام علیه امنیت ملی و تبلیغ علیه نظام عنوان کرد و گفت: این پرونده به زودی به دادگاه می‌رود.
جعفری دولت‌آبادی در خصوص اتهامات اعضای سندیکای شرکت واحد نیز گفت: این افراد پرونده‌های امنیتی دارند که برخی از آنها در سال‌های گذشته بازداشت شده‌اند و اتهامات آنها بیشتر مربوط به جرائم امنیتی است که یک سری از آنها حکم گرفته و یک سری دیگر نیز پرونده‌شان در مرحله تحقیقات است.
