The Council to Defend the Right to Education Condemns the Arrests of Student Activists Ahead of 16 Azar

Thursday November 11th, 2010 - In the wake of the arrests of four student activists last week, The Council to Defend the Right to Education issued a statement condemning the arrest of student activists posing the question: "Do you truly believe that by arresting students who are but a segment of Iran's aware and disenchanted society you will silence the freedom seeking roar of the student moment and things will turn in your favor?"

According to reports by Daneshjoo News, the complete content of this statement is as follows:

"Ali Qolizadeh, starred* student deprived of a right to education and a member of the Tahkim Vahdat Central Council

was arrested in Mashhad."

This news may be short and repetitive, but it is published on a daily basis, each time a new name appearing in the headlines. Yesterday it was the names of students such Majid Dori, Majid Tavakoli, Mahdieh Golroo and Seyed Zia Nabavi and today it is Ali Qolizadeh, Mohsen Bozorg, Alireza Kiyani and other members of the educated elite of our dear land whose names appear in the headlines. It is as though we are meant to get used to the status quo. In the wake of these events, however, a question lingers: Do you truly believe that by arresting students who are but a segment of Iran's aware and disenchanted society you will silence the freedom seeking roar of the student moment and things will turn in your favor?

The tactics imposed upon the beloved students of our land by the ruling government, such as suspending starred* students and depriving them of their right to education have been highly ineffective in silencing the voices our of student movement. Today after more than a year of widespread repression, students continue to be the main target of the ruling government's suppression. Today, students who had previously experienced kindness first hand, knowingly and proudly chose to be the first in line for suppression..

The time has come for this ruling government to reconsider its strategy, for none of their supposed solutions will lead to the silencing of our nation.  Today the freedom seeking voices of the Qolizadehs, Doris, Golroos and Nabavis are being echoed in the universities and are heard a thousand times louder than ever before.

The Council to Defend the Right to Education, an organization whose membership includes starred* students and students who have been deprived of a right to education, with many founding members now behind prison bars, strongly condemns the illegal arrests of starred* students Ali Qolizadeh, Ali reza Kiyani, graduate student at Mazandaran University, Mohsen Bozorg, student deprived of a right to education at the Noshiravan University in Babol and Mohammad Heydarzadeh student activist at University of Shahre Kord and a member of the Tahkim Vahdate (for the duration of one term). We reiterate that although the failed attempts [of the ruling government] at repressing the universities will begin once again as they have every year; although like previous years we will witness the arrest of students and political activists on the eve of Students Day exposing the ill intentions of the ignorant rulers, as long as there is work to be done, the roars of those who cry for justice will never be silenced. Do not assume that the wine bearer's work is done, as thousands more jugs of wine remain, still in the veins of vine.

* Starred Students: The system of issuing stars against students was developed by Iran’s Ministry of Advanced Education so students with disciplinary issues would get penalized. After a student collects a certain number of stars, he or she is banned from education. The system is primarily used against student activists.

بیانیه "شورای دفاع از حق تحصیل" دربارۀ بازداشت فعالین دانشجویی در آستانه ی ۱۶ آذر

در پی بازداشت ۴ تن از فعالین دانشجویی در هفته گذشته، "شورای دفاع از حق تحصیل" با انتشار بیانیه ای این دستگیری ها را محکوم کرده و از بانیان میپرسد: "چه کسی گفته است که با دستگیری این دانشجویان که تنها بخشی از ملت آگاه و معترض ایران هستند، فریاد های آزادی خواهانه جنبش دانشجویی در گلوها شکسته می شود و اوضاع به کام شماخواهد شد؟"

به گزارش دانشجو نیوز، متن این بیانیه به شرح زیر است:

"علی قلی زاده دانشجوی ستاره دار محروم از تحصیل و عضو شورای عمومی دفتر تحکیم وحدت در مشهد بازداشت شد."

خبر کوتاه است و تکراری، اما هر روز با نام تازه ای منتشر می شود؛ دیروز مجید دری بود و مجید توکلی، مهدیه گلرو بود و سید ضیاء نبوی و ... امروز علی قلی زاده، محسن برزگر علی رضا کیانی و نخبه های دیگر این دیار پاک..... گویی قرار بر این نهاده شده که به این مسائل عادت کنیم! اما یک سوال اساسی در این بین هویدا است، که باید از بانیان این حوادث پرسید:
چه کسی گفته است که با دستگیری این دانشجویان که تنها بخشی از ملت آگاه و معترض ایران هستند، فریاد های آزادی خواهانه جنبش دانشجویی در گلوها شکسته می شود و اوضاع به کام شماخواهد شد؟

تعلیق،محرومیت از تحصیل و ستاره دار کردن به عنوان راهکارهایی که تاکنون از جانب حاکمیت به نخبه گان این مرز و بوم تحمیل شده است گویی در خاموش کردن صدای جنبش دانشجویی بی اثر بوده است که اکنون و پس از گذشت بیش از یک سال از سرکوب گسترده مردم هنوز هم دانشجویان هدف اصلی سرکوب هستند.دانشجویانی که پیش از این بارها طعم مهرورزی را چشیده بودند اینبار نیز در صف نخست سرکوب قرار دارند و البته به آن آگاهند و افتخار می کنند.

زمان آن رسیده که حاکمیت در راهبردهایش تجدید نظر کند، چرا که هیچ کدام از راه حل ها! به خاموشی منجر نمی شود. امروز قلی زاده ها ، دری ها ، گلرو ها ، بنوی ها در دانشگاه ها هزاران بار نکثیر شده اند وصدای آزادی خواهی ایشان هزاران بار بلند تر شنیده می شود.

شورای دفاع از حق تحصیل " به عنوان گروهی متشکل از دانشجویان ستاره دار و محروم از تحصیل، که امروز اکثر اعضای اولیه ی آن در زندان هستند، ضمن محکوم کردن دستگیری های غیر قانونی "علی قلی زاده" دانشجوی ستاره دار، علی رضا کیانی دانشجوی مقطع کارشناسی ارشد دانشگاه مازندران، محسن برزگر دانشجوی محروم از تحصیل دانشگاه صنعتی نوشیروانی بابل و محمد حیدر زاده فعال دانشجوی دانشگاه شهر کرد و از فعالین دانشجویی عضو دفتر تحکیم وحدت ( یک ترم تعلیق با احتساب سنوات)، خاطرنشان می کند که پروژه شکست خورده اختناق، که همه ساله در آستانه ی روز دانشجو با دستگیری فعالان سیاسی و دانشجویی سعی در برقراری نظم پادگانی در دانشگاه ها دارد، این بار نیز گسترده تر و رسواتر از همیشه سناریوهای نخ نما شده خود را با خام دستی جاهلانه اجرا می کند. اما فریاد حق طلبی را سکوتی نیست.
