Tuesday September 28th, 2010 - Hossein Derakhshan, Iranian blogger was sentenced to 19 1/2 years prison today. The verdict was issued at Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Salavati. Derakhshan who was arrested in September 2008 and accused of "collaboration with hostile governments, propaganda against the Islamic regime, propaganda in favor of anti revolutionary groups, blasphemy and the management of obscene and vulgar websites", was sentenced to 19 1/2 years prison, banned for 5 years from journalism and political activities and ordered to return the sums of 30,750 Euro, 2900 dollars & 200 pounds.
Hossein Derakhshan a pioneer in blogging in Farsi, wrote a blog called " Editor: Myself" in which he talked about himself and the culture and politics of Iran both in Farsi and English.
In a letter written to Sadegh Larijani, the head of Iran's Judiciary in March 2009, Azra Kiarashpour, Derakhshan's mother requested that he be released from jail on the occasion of Norooz (Iranian New Year). In this letter, Ms. Kiarashpour also pointed out to the fact that her son had been in jail for over 500 days without being officially charged. Derakhshan's first trial took place on June 23rd, 2010 in Tehran's Revolutionary Court. According to reports by Derakhshan's sister, the court ended their session in early August, without issuing a verdict.
On September 19th 2010, the Farsi news site "Kamtarin" reported that the prosecutor for Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court had requested the maximum penalty of execution for Derakhshan of Judge Abolghasem Salavati. This news was immediately confirmed by the Derakhshan family and his mother conducted an interview with the same site and spoke of her son's predicament for the first time since his arrest. In this interview, Derakhshan's mother made reference to the helpfulness and assistance by the High Council of Iranian Affairs Abroad towar Derakhshan when he was abroad and before returning to Iran. This council is headed by Esfandyar Rahim Mashaei, responsible for Ahmadinejad's office.

محکومیت حسین درخشان به ۱۹ سال و نیم حبس تعزیری

حکم دادگاه حسین درخشان، وبلاگ نویس ایرانی امروز به متهم و وکیل وی ابلاغ شد که طی آن دادگاه وی را به 19 سال و نیم حبس محکوم کرد.
به گزارش مشرق، بنا بر این حکم که امروز از سوی شعبه 15 دادگاه انقلاب اسلامی به ریاست قاضی صلواتی صادر شد، درخشان که در مهرماه 87 بازداشت شده است، به اتهام "همکاری با دول متخاصم، تبلیغ علیه نظام اسلامی، تبلیغ به نفع گروهک های ضد انقلاب، توهین به مقدسات و راه اندازی و مدیریت سایت های مبتذل و مستهجن"، به 19 سال و نیم حبس تعزیری، پنج سال محرومیت از عضویت در احزاب و فعالیت در رسانه ها و بازگرداندن وجوهی که دادگاه "اخذ شده" خواند، به مبلغ 30 هزار و 750 یورو، دوهزار و 900 دلار و 200 پوند انگلیس محکوم شد.
حسین درخشان از پیشتازان وبلاگ نویسی به زبان فارسی است و در وبلاگ خود به نام "سردبیر خودم" به زبان‌های فارسی و انگلیسی در مورد خودش و سیاست و فرهنگ ایران قلم می‌زد.
در اسفند ۱۳۸۸ عذرا کیارش‌پور، مادر حسین درخشان، طی نامه ای به صادق لاریجانی رئیس قوه قضاییه ایران خواستار آزادی درخشان به مناسبت عید نوروز شد.
وی در این نامه به سپری شدن ۵۰۰ روز از دستگیری وی بدون تفهیم اتهام رسمی نیز اشاره کرد. اولین جلسه رسمی دادگاه درخشان در تاریخ دوم تیر ۱۳۸۹ در دادگاه انقلاب تهران برگزار شد و طبق گفته های خواهر درخشان، دادگاه در اوایل مرداد و بدون صدور حکم به کار خود خاتمه داد.
28 شهریور ۱۳۸۹ سایت خبری فارسی "کمترین" گزارش داد دادستان شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب، از قاضی پرونده ابوالقاسم صلواتی برای درخشان درخواست اشد مجازات، یعین اعدام، را کرده است. این خبر به فاصله یک روز توسط خانواده درخشان تایید شد و مادر درخشان در مصاحبه ای با همان سایت برای اولین بار از زمان دستگیری درخشان با رسانه های خبری گفتگو کرد. وی در این مصاحبه به مساعدت شورای عالی امور ایرانیان خارج از کشور در مورد سفر درخشان قبل از ورود وی به ایران اشاره کرد. شورایی که ریاست آن را اسفندیار رحیم مشایی، رئیس دفتر محمود احمدی‌نژاد بر عهده دارد
